Understanding Leather Types: Beyond “Genuine”
Not all leather is created equal. From full-grain to split leather, the grade you choose affects how a bag feels, wears, and ages. “Leather bags” is a broad term — but quality narrows the field.
1. Full-Grain First
This is the highest grade — the outermost hide with tight fibers. Bags in leather using full-grain last longer and patina beautifully.
2. Corrected or Bonded
Sandblasted, painted, or bonded leathers are cheaper but less breathable. They’re often used in fast fashion.
3. Florvane’s Choice
We use premium top-grain leather in our mini bags and totes — balancing quality with supple softness. Feel the difference in your next bag.
